Yesterday Dana called and asked If I wanted to take a trip to duluth, We ended up going to perkins and staying there for hours. We talked about Philosophy, religion, rational debate, politics, everything, nothing, nonsense, people, the future... we just sat and talked while drinking coffee, and loved every minute of it. It was the most fun I had in a long time, doing practically nothing. We also managed to meet up with steve have a few cynical moments with him while he was on break, and then met a pretty awesome waiter named matt. I think the coolest part about matt is that he put up with our randomness, and enlightened us no matter how rediciulous the request. This could be because he wanted a good tip, He didn't want to be rude, or he was weirded out and just expected to never talk to us again anyway. Maybe all of the above. Whatever the reason, it was still fun.

Our society is dumb and it's my fault, but it is also society's for allowing us to lower our standards.
I was talking to our foregin exchange student, Adrian. He told me that our classes here are a hell of a lot easier than the ones in Germany. The thing is, in Germany students dont make the requirements, they have to meet them.
Every day I hear kids blaming our educators for their lack of intelligence or lack of education. But have we ever thought of what the teachers get out of it? So they push you to do well in school, then what? They get a pat on the back and a gold star? Lets face it, our society keeps on lowering the standards of education. Think about it. How many kids do you have in your graduation class? How many of those kids are on the honor roll (either A or B)? Im willing to wager that about half of your class is. Why is this? Because mommy and daddy want lower car insurance for their kids and the teachers are willing to say oh alright have and A or B and call it good because that is what society allows. Society is like water, it rises and lowers to the mediocrity. As long as we decide to take no benefit from what we learn every day , our education will continue to go down hill, and its one hell of a slippery slope. What about cheating? Is it uncommon these days? Hell no. Infact, I believe it is strongly accepted these days because Society only cares about one thing: the end point. As long as you have that good mark at the end, you're set. You get the scholarships and you get the free ride to school and a pat on the back regardless of how you got the mark. Look at the underclassmen in your school and think about how pathetic your future is. But hey, realize that before you were and upperclassmen there where people like your teachers who were looking down on you saying the same damn thing. Im sure that those same people you are looking and shaking your heads at will be doing it to the others below them. Scary thought, huh? If this pattern continues, those younger kids, those pathetic excuses for educated individuals, with be the smart ones someday. Like Mr. Nellis said, Wow are we in trouble.
The truth is, even though a lot of people are well aware of all of this, they have no intent to change. Even if there is an educational itch they will not make the effort to lift their arm and scratch it.
Guess what...its not just me. You're responsible for this dumb society as well. How does that make you feel? Current Mood: okay
